It isn’t often that large scale emergencies, natural disasters, and other unplanned events are confined to one jurisdiction. And even when these event types are confined, their scale, complexity, and unpredictability require help from neighboring public safety agencies to adequately and effectively respond.
In October 2017, the Tubbs Fire burned parts of Sonoma, Napa, and Lake counties in Northern California. As the state’s second most destructive wildfire moved through the area, Sonoma County Public Safety Consortium (SCPSC) PSAP needed to be able to dispatch, communicate, and work with other response agencies across the county and region. To effectively manage the response efforts, SCPSC used the joint communication and interoperability capabilities of Hexagon’s computer-aided dispatch system.
